Noise Impact Assessments

Noise impact assessments are a necessity when it comes to determining the likely impact of introducing a source into a noise sensitive area will have on the community. These types of assessments are usually requested by Local Authorities and The Environment Agency.

If you are thinking of introducing a noise source (be it industrial in nature, entertainment, licensing of bars and restaurants or any other fixed plant items) to a noise sensitive environment, an impact assessment can be produced prior to the installation or activity actually taking place.

The noise impact assessment is completed by firstly determining the existing noise climate, into which the source is to be introduced, using manufacturers certified information or library data of the specific noise source; we “add” the source to the monitored background results. The conclusions from the assessment can then verify if the specific source is likely to give rise to “Justifiable” complaints; is acceptable, or if further mitigating noise control measures are necessary to allow introduction of the noise source.

We have extensive experience of this type of assessment and can use our knowledge on your behalf to provide the reporting and information required by the Local Authorities and other agencies to ensure that your activities do not generate community annoyance or complaints.
